Mickey Rourke Makes Surprise Return in First Photos Since Eviction from LA Home
Mickey Rourke has been making headlines recently, not just for his return to Los Angeles but also for the ongoing challenges he’s faced in his personal life. The 73-year-old Oscar-nominated actor was spotted this weekend wearing an ash grey sweatsuit, sunglasses, a necklace, and white Adidas athletic shoes during a sunny spring day in Southern California. He was seen carrying a large bottle of water, showing he’s staying hydrated while on the go.
Rourke was accompanied by a friend who wore a tie-dyed hoodie and helped him with his luggage. The actor had just returned from Utah, where he was filming the upcoming movie Sol Hershowitz’s Guide to Extraterrestrial Life. In this film, Rourke plays a conspiracy theorist, according to TMZ.
His recent living situation has drawn significant attention over the past few months. It all began late last year when his former landlord, Eric T. Goldie, initiated legal proceedings to evict Rourke from the home he had been renting. Goldie filed a court document on December 18, stating that the actor had rented the house for most of the previous year, accumulating more than $59,100 in unpaid rent.
This month, Goldie received a default judgment in the eviction case after Rourke failed to respond to the eviction notice within the required time frame under California law. The court granted Goldie immediate possession of the property, effectively ending Rourke’s lease and forcing him out of the home.
Rourke’s team provided a statement to the Daily Mail earlier this month, explaining the actor’s side of the dispute. They claimed that Rourke stopped paying rent because the living conditions in the house became unacceptable. “For months there were serious problems that repeatedly went unaddressed despite my efforts to have them fixed,” the statement said.
The actor detailed issues such as ongoing rodent problems and malfunctioning bathroom and plumbing systems. Despite repeated requests for repairs, these issues remained unresolved. Rourke explained that withholding rent was not a decision he made lightly, but he felt it was necessary after being ignored for so long.
“I simply could not continue paying for a house that was in such poor condition after so many attempts to have these issues corrected,” Rourke told the Daily Mail.

Despite the difficulties he’s faced, Rourke remains grateful for the opportunities he has to work. “They let me slowly go back to work – I’m behaving myself, I was on time – there was no hotel room broken up,” he said. “I did everything wrong for 20 years, and then… took me 23 years of therapy.”
Rourke also turned down six-figures in GoFundMe donations from fans after news of his living situation became public. He expressed readiness to take accountability for past mistakes and the consequences they brought. “The only person I got to blame for what happened to me was me,” he said. “I got it a lot better off than a lot of people – I got a roof over my head – I got some food in the icebox; my dogs aren’t going hungry.”
